For sofa cushions we recommend adding dacron & stockinette to make it easier to slide into the original cover and add loft.
Stockinette
Stockinette is a stretchable fabric tube that can be easily slipped over the foam cushion. It provides a smooth surface for the cushion cover to slide on, making the installation process much easier. This is especially helpful when dealing with snug-fitting cushion covers or foam inserts.
Protection for the Foam: Stockinette acts as a protective layer for the foam cushion. It helps to prevent friction between the foam and the cushion cover, reducing the risk of the foam getting damaged or worn out over time. This added protection can extend the lifespan of your foam cushion.
Smoother Appearance: The use of stockinette can create a neater and more uniform look for your cushion. It helps to smooth out any imperfections or irregularities in the foam, providing a consistent surface for the cushion cover. This results in a more professional and polished appearance.

Dacron

When adding Dacron it is always best to add stockinette as the Dacron bonding can fail over time without this due to friction.

How much does foam cut to size cost?
The price depends on the shape, dimensions, foam grade, quantity and selected extras. Use the calculator above for your specification and check the basket and delivery total before paying. For a shape that does not match a template, contact us with a labelled drawing and measurements.
Measure before ordering
Measure an empty cushion cover seam to seam without stretching it. Record length, width and thickness, and select the matching unit in the calculator. Do not automatically add thickness to compensate for a flattened cushion: check what the cover can accommodate first.
For angled or curved pieces, label each measurement to match the shape diagram. Read our cushion measuring guide, or ask us to check your measurements before ordering.
Which foam grade should I choose?
Consider whether the foam is for a seat, back cushion, mattress or another use, as well as its thickness and your firmness preference. Density and firmness are different properties. Compare the available options in our foam selection guide; ask for the specification of the exact grade if you have technical or fire-performance requirements.
Dacron and stockinette
Dacron is an optional polyester wrap; stockinette is a fabric sleeve used when fitting foam into a cover. Check whether your cover has room for the chosen finish. These extras do not replace choosing the correct foam dimensions and grade.
